Embroidery Workshop

Explore the rich tradition of Madeiran embroidery in an interactive workshop and you will have the opportunity to delve into the artisanal techniques of this form of cultural expression. Led by localembroiderers, this workshop offers a unique experience to create your own piece of embroidery, taking with you not only a masterpiece, but also a tangible connection to Madeiran heritage.

Workshop Phases

In the heart of the Madeira embroidery factory, in the center of Funchal, the workshop is divided into the following phases:

 

1st phase - Design:  Each customer is given a bag with the respective kit (cloth - which will be a scarf with the "filter" already made, threads, needle and photocopy of the piece already finished).

2nd phase - Cutting and printing: The customer cuts and prints their scarf.

 

3rd phase - Embroidery: Customers learn and embroider part of the scarf, giving 1 stitch each and then
finishing the embroidery themselves.

 

4th phase - Washing + ironing + cutting: An explanation is given of how this process is done.

 

At the end, customers receive a certificate of participation and take with them the perforated drawing,a perforated pillow and pin.
